AA SummerArchitectureSchool: MINICITY: Smallness in an era of city-boom slow down
A three-week introduction to architecture for current undergraduate students or others considering a change in school or profession. The programme provides a broad overview of contemporary architectural design, culture and ideas, taught at Bedford Square and based on the AA’s acclaimed unit system.
 
TEL AVIV
8-17 July
CSI: Connections, Surfaces, Infrastructures
At the David Azrieli School of Architecture of Tel Aviv University, the programme will combine cutting-edge and traditional techniques of draughtsmanship to produce a series of sophisticated architectural surfaces whose multiple scales and "thick 2D" qualities will form an elaborate set of "land\marks" to commemorate the city centennial in 2009.
 
SINGAPORE
15–24 July
Designed Geographies
AA visiting programme hosted by the Experience Design Centre of Singapore Polytechnic University. This forth annual design workshop in Singapore will develop cross-referenced layers of urban conditions to produce ramified readings of the city.
The workshop will investigate experimental ways of observing the city, informed by an introduction to contemporary methods of physical and digital mapping, modelling and advanced design processes and research.
 
MADRIDSPAIN
16-25 July
Urban Endurance and Hybrid Spaces: Rethinking the AZCA District
Held at IE School of Architecture in Madrid, the workshop will focus on the redesign and redevelopment of this iconic site located in the core of Madrid. Participants will investigate new architectural and urban approaches within this context.
 
LONDONUK
3–14 August
Summer D_Lab
The AA’s new digital prototyping lab is the venue for an intensive two-week course offering a rapid immersion in advanced contemporary computational design techniques, software and output technologies, including CNC, laser-cutting and 3D printing.
 
SEOULKOREA
11–18 August
The Rebirth of the River
AA visiting programme held jointly with the SAKIA Daejeon Summer Workshop. A workshop led by AA teaching staff and leading Korean practitioners, held in Daejeon University School of Architecture, 1 hour south of SeoulThis workshop will focus on new experimental strategies for reconnecting the urban environment with the river network and waterfronts. Students will explore how architectural thinking can be stimulated by design activities. They will investigate alternative architectures and critical ways of working across new design platforms, collaborative media and materials systems in order to visualise ideas that are in turn intended to galvanise wider political, professional and public discussions about the future of the rivers. 
 
SHANGHAICHINA
14–22 August
AA visiting programme at the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Architecture Study Centre, Shanghai. For the third successive year, this studio-based course will investigate new computational design approaches in architecture and urbanism within the context ofShanghai.
 
BERLINGERMANY
4-12 September
Held at Aedes Network Campus, the laboratory will explore modes of creative production and their manifestations in the city. Using Berlin as a field for investigation and intervention, it aims to trace complex relationships between cultural production and the city. At the core of this inquiry is the role of experimentation, which will be conducted both in the laboratory studio and field
